Registered Nurse - Trauma/Ortho WWP
About The Position
As a Registered Nurse on the Trauma Ortho Progressive Care Unit, you will care for patients with a range of medical conditions and acuity levels. The team specializes in orthopedics and also treats patients with other complex medical conditions and treatment plans. The unit is a challenging, fast-paced environment with high patient turnover. Nurses are trained to initiate and maintain IV infusions, including heparin, Lasix, Cardizem, and amiodarone, as well as PCA/CADD pumps. The position offers an opportunity to expand nursing skills, participate in shared governance, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. The team is part of a Level 1 Trauma and Academic Medical Center and emphasizes knowledge sharing, collaboration, and continuous improvement across a diverse range of backgrounds, skill levels, and experience.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of applicable experience.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
- Registered Nurse qualification.
- Associate degree.
Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process.
- Perform patient care, delegate patient care tasks, and supervise other patient care staff.
- Coordinate the plan of care for a group of assigned patients and consult with other members of the health care team when indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Demonstrate clinical nursing proficiency and comply with policies, rules, guidelines, and procedures.
