About The Position

The Registered Nurse works on a Trauma Ortho Progressive Care Unit, providing care to patients with a variety of medical conditions and acuity levels. The team specializes in orthopedics and also cares for patients with other complex medical conditions and treatment plans. The unit is fast-paced, has high patient turnover, and is part of a Level 1 Trauma and Academic Medical Center. Nurses are trained to initiate and maintain IV infusions, including heparin, Lasix, Cardizem, amiodarone, and PCA/CADD pumps. The role offers opportunities to expand nursing skills, participate in shared governance, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. The team values knowledge sharing, collaboration, continuous improvement, and learning across diverse backgrounds, skill levels, and experience.

This is a part-time night position with weekend work.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of applicable experience.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• Registered Nurse qualification.
• Associate degree.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process.
• Perform patient care, delegate patient care tasks, and supervise other patient care staff.
• Coordinate the plan of care for a group of assigned patients and consult with other members of the health care team when indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Demonstrate clinical proficiency and abide by policies, rules, guidelines, and procedures.
• Initiate and maintain IV infusions, including heparin, Lasix, Cardizem, amiodarone, and PCA/CADD pumps.
