About The Position

Homestead Village is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for their Skilled Nursing Facility. This full-time position offers a unique night shift program with a schedule that allows for great work/life balance, working either two or three twelve-hour shifts per week, with every third weekend requirement. The ideal candidate will have exceptional skills, a passion for serving older adults, and excitement for leading a team of LPNs and caregivers. Homestead Village is a mid-sized retirement community with a small skilled nursing unit, which allows for flexibility and individual recognition of team members. A $7,000 sign-on bonus is offered for this position.

Requirements

Currently licensed in the Commonwealth of PA as a Registered Nurse
CPR Certified

Responsibilities

Provide and direct resident care in accordance with SNF/ICF guidelines, HSS-132 Nursing Home Rules and Regulations, Resident Bill of Rights, Nursing Services Policies and Procedures, and the Homestead Village Employee Policy Handbook.
Observe, assess, and report changes in residents’ condition to immediate supervisor, attending physician, family, or designated contact person.
Call or accept verbal orders from resident’s physician and transcribe them according to procedures and policies, ensuring timely and accurate transcription.
Actively coach caregivers to ensure outstanding resident care, utilizing coaching supervision training and techniques.
Communicate readily with all team members and nurse leaders.
Administer drugs and transfer treatment supplies from Med room to resident rooms according to physician orders when necessary.
Document appropriately and report any drug and/or treatment errors to supervisor and physician.
Serve as a role model in the implementation of Homestead Village policy and OSHA standard on Universal precautions, ensuring staff compliance and follow-up with required retraining and disciplinary action.
Document in resident charts and maintain clinical records in the prescribed manner.
Report staff and/or resident concerns/abuse immediately to supervisor.
Complete incident reports in their entirety as accurately and timely as possible.
Operate equipment required for resident care and provide lifesaving care, e.g., suctioning.
Assist physician during examination and/or treatment of residents; review orders with physician, suggest changes based on resident’s condition.
Participate in the development of policies and procedures to improve nursing care programs.
Assist in training, supervising, counseling, and evaluating assigned staff.
Replace absent staff when needed.
Attend scheduled meetings, continuing education programs, and mandatory in-services as an active participant of the Nursing team to keep abreast of current trends in medical science with special emphasis in gerontology.
Maintain and safeguard entrusted confidential information.
Adjust assignments and schedules to best meet the needs of residents with appropriate personnel.
Pass along pertinent information needed for the 24-hour report.
Be knowledgeable of emergency procedures in the event of a fire, tornado, bomb, etc., and able to carry through the correct procedure should an emergent situation arise.
