About The Position

Provides quality patient-centered care considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and n-patient needs. The unit features 12 LDRs, 4 High-Risk Rooms, 7 Bed Triage Areas, 6 Antepartum Rooms, 3 C/Section Rooms, and a 4 Bed PACU. All patient rooms are private. The treatment team includes RNs, Surgical Technicians, Patient Care Technicians, and Unit Clerks, all located on the unit. Our team is supported by 24/7 in-house providers including Obstetricians, Midwives, OB residents, Pediatricians, a Neonatologist, an Anesthesiologist, a CRNA, and Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists. We require 13 weeks of orientation with an OB Core Course, provided as part of orientation.

Requirements

• Graduation from a school of nursing that results in the ability of the graduate to sit for the NCLEX exam to become licensed as a Registered Nurse.
• Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• BLS.
• ACLS required for the following departments : Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, Emergency
• Graduation from accredited nursing program.
• Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and age specific needs
• Interpersonal skills necessary to initiate and maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Critical thinking skills necessary to perform principal duties and responsibilities of job description.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care

Nice To Haves

• BSN preferred.
• New graduate nurses, requires licensure examination scheduled within 45 days of hire
• Effective January 1, 2013 all new hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from date of hire or transfer to an RN role.
