About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides clinical direction for all aspects of patient care in an acute inpatient setting and fosters patient- and family-centered care. The role demonstrates clinical competency using evidence-based practices and research throughout the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and outcomes. The nurse consults with clinical advisors and peers as appropriate and complies with organizational policies and procedures, including requirements for licensure renewal, training, employee health screenings, attendance, dress code, confidentiality, infection control, and medication administration. The nurse demonstrates knowledge of regulatory requirements and provides care within the scope of the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act. Acute inpatient work may require significant shift, weekend, holiday, and on-call scheduling. The nurse assesses patients, identifies priorities, develops and updates individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, providers, and the interdisciplinary team, and provides direct care consistent with those plans and the RN scope of practice. The role includes delegating and monitoring tasks, coordinating care and discharge planning, promoting patient safety, documenting care, evaluating outcomes, supporting quality improvement, and educating patients and families. The nurse is accountable for maintaining professional competency, licensure, and required education, and serves as a patient advocate and care coordinator. This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
