Temporary Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health

About The Position

Lower Bucks Hospital, a member of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a temporary Registered Nurse for Behavioral Health. The role provides nursing care to behavioral health patients, including treatment, patient and family education, emotional support, therapeutic groups, and psychiatric crisis intervention. Nurses also document patient histories and symptoms, assist with diagnostic testing and analysis, operate medical equipment, administer treatments and medications, and support follow-up and rehabilitation. The position is on the night shift.

Requirements

Current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse.
Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current certification.
Working knowledge of mental health laws and practice standards.
Working knowledge of the interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming, and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.

Responsibilities

Treat patients and educate them about mental and medical conditions.
Provide advice and emotional support to patients and/or family members.
Run therapeutic groups and provide psychiatric crisis intervention.
Perform seclusion and restraint of patients.
Record patients’ medical histories and symptoms.
Help perform diagnostic tests and analyze results.
Operate medical machinery.
Administer treatments and medications.
Help with patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
Teach patients and families to manage illness or injury, including diet and exercise programs, self-administration of medication, and physical therapy.
Perform other related duties.
