About The Position

DMC Registered Nurses are members of the Patient Care Services Team and are responsible for the satisfactory completion of nursing care by the nursing team. The RN manages and provides patient care for a group of patients and their families, using independent judgment and communicating and collaborating with team members, including ancillary and support services. The role encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, teaching, and supervision. This position is on a surgical unit specializing in orthopedic and bariatric surgeries. The unit uses telemetry and has bariatric certification. DMC Harper University Hospital is a specialty referral hospital with clinical expertise and research in surgery and medicine, and centers of excellence in neurosciences, bariatric surgery, vascular services, multidisciplinary cardiovascular services, hypertension, stroke prevention, and heart failure.

Requirements

Graduation from a school of nursing.
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians and other health care providers.

Monitor patient progress and prepare patients for discharge.
Report directly to senior unit management and participate in shared decision-making activities.
