About The Position

Saint Luke’s is hiring a PreOP/PACU Registered Nurse for its Surgical Services Float Pool. This full-time day-shift role floats among the organization’s four main hospital locations in the Lee’s Summit, Overland Park, North Kansas City, and Plaza areas, as well as its metro hospital entities: Saint Luke’s North, Saint Luke’s South, Saint Luke’s Hospital, and Saint Luke’s East. Shift lengths may vary between 8, 10, or 12 hours based on organizational needs, and schedules are written 8–10 weeks in advance.

The nurse works with varied conditions, procedures, and levels of acuity. The Plaza location is a Magnet Level 1 Trauma Academic Medical Center. The role offers autonomy and variety in a collaborative setting with supportive, unit-based leadership teams. The teams use innovative processes and technologies, and Saint Luke’s continues to expand its robotics programs. Nurses are encouraged to participate in the organization’s nurse governance.

Requirements

• Two years of applicable experience.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• Associate degree.

Responsibilities

• Function independently and remain accountable for utilizing the nursing process.
• Coordinate care for a group of patients with the Multidisciplinary Team.
• Delegate tasks appropriately.
• Identify hospital resources.
• Serve as a clinical resource for new employees.
• Demonstrate positive formal or informal leadership within the unit or department.
• Participate in nurse governance.
