About The Position
The Occupational Health Registered Nurse – PRN/per diem provides emergency care, first aid, and episodic treatment of occupational injuries and illnesses within standing orders. This is an ad hoc role, with shifts scheduled in advance based on need and availability. The position is on-site at the Fort Wayne plant and pays $44 per hour; the rate is non-negotiable.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Valid state nursing license.
- At least 2 years of prior nursing experience.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and basic computer programs/software.
- Flexibility for shift coverage, specifically second shift and weekends.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Experience in ER, Urgent Care, Critical Care, Med/Surg, or Occupational Health.
- Healthcare Provider CPR/AED certification.
- Certification as an Occupational Health Nursing (COHN) or Occupational Health Nursing Specialist (COHN-S).
Responsibilities
- Administer professional nursing care to sick and/or injured employees.
- Perform and evaluate clinical and diagnostic tests.
- Assist the plant physician in minor surgical procedures.
- Interview employees and document their medical histories.
- Work effectively with the Health Services team and other departments.
- Maintain appropriate medical records to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Perform and document physical exams.
- Adhere to common practices and procedures throughout the department.
- Maintain equipment and supplies.
- Assist with the promotion of plant wellness programs.
- Work with health services customers in a knowledgeable and professional manner.
