About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking an Emergency Room Registered Nurse who will independently perform the functions of direct patient care. You will utilize the nursing process in the delivery of developmentally appropriate care. You will also work in collaboration with other health care professionals to provide a comprehensive plan of care to meet the patient/family needs. This role requires in-depth professional knowledge and practical/applied expertise in nursing, with a basic knowledge of related disciplines. The nurse will act as a resource for colleagues, solve complex problems, and work independently with minimal guidance. They will be accountable for patient care meeting standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights, and guest relations, and will be responsible for prescribing, delegating, and coordinating patient care using clinical judgment and evidence-based guidelines. The role involves providing education, advocating for patients, accurately documenting encounters, protecting patient health information, and adhering to infection prevention initiatives. The nurse will deliver competent and skilled care with a team orientation, emphasizing customer relations, clinical judgment, and decision-making.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years’ recent acute care hospital experience.
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Current State of Texas Registered Nurse license.
Current AHA BLS Certification.
Current AHA ACLS Certification.
Current AHA PALS or ENPC.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Basic computer knowledge.
Proficient in interpreting EKG.

Nice To Haves

Academic degree in nursing (Bachelors or Master’s degree).
Additional languages preferred.
CPI Certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

Oversee care delivered by patient care team and coordinate plan of care.
Ensure patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights, and guest relations.
Prescribe, delegate, and coordinate patient care using clinical judgment and evidence-based guidelines.
Provide education and facilitate learning for patients, families, and the patient care team.
Collaborate with physicians, families, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement an appropriate plan of care.
Advocate for the patient and represent their concerns.
Accurately and thoroughly document all patient encounters.
Ensure that Patient Health Information (PHI) is protected and secured at all times.
Adhere to all infection prevention initiatives.
Deliver competent and skilled care to patients and families according to their identified needs.
Deliver care with a team-orientation, emphasis on good customer relations, sound clinical judgment, and appropriate decision-making abilities.
Continuously inquire about the condition of the patient and implement treatment changes if necessary.
Maintain a body of knowledge and tools to manage environmental and system resources for the patient/family.
