About The Position

The Registered Nurse 1 / 2 position is based in the Medicine Unit at Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center, a 24-bed acute care critical access hospital serving the Florida Parishes region of Southeast Louisiana. The RN provides professional nursing care and supports the treatment and recovery of patients. The shift is determined by the Department Manager. The role may be filled at the RN 1 or RN 2 level, depending on the selected applicant’s experience. Appointment may be probational or promotional. RN 2 base pay is listed at a Special Entrance Rate of $27.00 per hour, with additional pay for qualifying shifts, weekends, holidays, and certifications.

Requirements

Hold a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multistate license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.
Hold BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association before appointment.

Responsibilities

Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, education, and discharge-planning factors.
Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice for a Registered Nurse.
Communicate and coordinate patient care with the Charge Nurse, oncoming nurse, and other interdisciplinary team members.
Implement patient care and treatments and administer medications at appropriate intervals as prescribed by the doctor’s order.
Participate in staff-development in-services based on assessed learning needs.
Participate in unit meetings and quality-improvement activities.
Participate in the orientation of new RNs or subordinate staff members.
Accept delegated Charge Nurse duties.
Attend educational in-services, mandatory training, and annual reviews as required by hospital policy or deemed necessary by a supervisor.
Perform other assigned duties, including ensuring departmental coverage.
