About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with the healthcare organization’s established policies, procedures, and protocols. The role implements and monitors patient care plans, observes and communicates patient conditions, and coordinates care across disciplines. The nurse carries out physician and nursing orders and works with the healthcare team to assess and coordinate patients’ discharge planning needs. The position is in the 5 East Oncology department at UAB St. Vincent’s East and is scheduled for 24 hours per week, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Requirements
- Alabama Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credential, obtained before the hire or job transfer date.
- BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of the hire or job transfer date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification accepted.
- Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing, with required professional licensure at the time of hire.
- At least one year of RN experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Coordinate care among disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
