About The Position

As a member of the healthcare team, the Registered Nurse coordinates, evaluates and provides nursing care according to the job description and Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses on 7W.

Requirements

• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nursing of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
• Recent experience (within the last 3 years) in neurosurgical nursing or critical care nursing
• Current BCLS certification or equivalent
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Evidence of commitment to professional practice and ongoing professional development

Nice To Haves

• Demonstrated skill and ability with ECG interpretation/intervention, arterial-line monitoring, VAT competency, CVAD competency, ICP setup/ monitoring, BIPAP, assisting with invasive procedures, and vasoactive IV medications
• CPO or SDU course through Hamilton Health Sciences

Responsibilities

• Coordinates, evaluates and provides nursing care according to the job description and Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses on 7W.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and decision making in neuroassessment, problem identification and problem-solving of neurosurgical and neurology patients.
• Ability to prioritize and collaborate with the team with patient condition fluctuations.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the nursing care planning process.
