About The Position

Join Boulder Centre for Orthopedics as an Observation Extended Care Unit RN in its Orthopedic Surgery Center. The role provides postoperative care to patients recovering from orthopedic procedures, including total joint replacements, sports injuries, and spine surgeries. The position is PRN, onsite, and hourly, with variable Monday–Friday scheduling and 12-hour shifts available. The night shift runs from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Pay is $50 per hour, with an additional $7 per hour for hours worked during the night shift. The position is not eligible for a bonus. The role is in the Convalescent Care department and reports to the Clinical Director. The facility describes its environment as collaborative, supportive, and focused on professional growth. The position does not require weekend or holiday work.

Requirements

Nursing degree; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
Current Colorado RN license.
BCLS and ACLS certification.
At least 2 years of experience as an RN in a professional medical setting.
Strong clinical judgment and adaptability in fast-paced settings.
Knowledge of surgical recovery and ability to identify complications early.
Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and colleagues.
Commitment to patient privacy, data accuracy, and safety protocols.

Nice To Haves

Orthopedic care experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide postoperative care and monitor patient recovery.
Collaborate with surgeons, physical therapists, and the care team on individualized care plans.
Manage pain and symptoms, administer medications, and use non-medication interventions.
Perform wound care and educate patients and families about recovery at home.
Document care accurately and uphold infection-control and safety standards.
Offer emotional support to help patients feel confident and cared for.
