About The Position

Registered Nurses at Intermountain Healthcare provide patient-centered care while demonstrating the organization’s values and mission. This role supports the Center for Safe and Healthy Families, the Child Protection and Maltreatment team at Primary Children’s Hospital. The team provides patient-centered, trauma-informed care for children referred to the Children’s Justice Center with concerns of physical abuse, sexual abuse, or medical neglect. Nurses support medical examinations and assist with evidence collection, collaborating with advanced practice providers during patient evaluations and partnering with Primary Children’s medical team and the local Children’s Justice Center Multidisciplinary Team to ensure comprehensive care.

This position serves the Uintah, Daggett, and Roosevelt County areas, with a listed work city of Vernal, Utah. It is scheduled for four hours per week as needed, with on-call caregivers required to arrive at the designated location within one hour of receiving a call. The position is not benefits-eligible. The hourly pay range is $35.22–$53.29, with the actual rate dependent on experience.

Requirements

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice; valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required as of the job description’s last update on 4/27/2025. Employees hired or promoted before that date are held to the requirements in effect at the time of their hire or promotion.
• RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain a BSN within four years of their hire date.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
• Exceptional assessment abilities, strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
• Ability to perform the physical demands described, including patient transfers, handling supplies and equipment, standing, walking, and communicating effectively in a clinical setting.

Nice To Haves

• One or more years of RN experience.
• Pediatric RN work experience.
• BSN education from an accredited institution; the degree will be verified.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered, trauma-informed care to children referred to the Children’s Justice Center with concerns of physical abuse, sexual abuse, or medical neglect.
• Support medical examinations and assist with evidence collection.
• Collaborate with advanced practice providers during patient evaluations.
• Partner with Primary Children’s medical team and the local Children’s Justice Center Multidisciplinary Team to ensure comprehensive care.
• Arrive at the designated location within one hour of receiving an on-call request.
• Assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and document patient care.
• Assist with transferring and transporting patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
