About The Position

The Registered Nurse will provide nursing care in a psychiatric and behavioral health setting using a team nursing approach. The RN administers medications, evaluates care plans, documents patient progress, completes admission screens and assessments, provides minor wound care, and performs other clinical and administrative duties. Training is provided for EKGs.

Requirements

South Dakota RN license or compact RN license.
At least 1 year of experience.
BLS certification.
Ability to perform a take down and physical restraint on an agitated patient if necessary.
Verbal de-escalation skills.
Group didactic skills.
Good communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Prior CPI certification is preferred before the start of the assignment, but it can be obtained on assignment.

Responsibilities

Administer medications, including injectable and oral medications, and pass medications.
Evaluate care plans and document patient progress and care.
Complete admission screens and patient assessments.
Provide minor wound care.
Perform EKGs after training.
Use a glucometer and obtain vital signs.
Take telephone or verbal orders and acknowledge orders.
Complete the Columbia suicide risk screen and other screenings.
Provide verbal de-escalation and, if necessary, perform a take down and physical restraint on an agitated patient.
Use group didactic skills.
Provide end-of-shift reports.
Log patient belongings.
Participate in discharge planning.
