About The Position

Trillium Health Partners is one of Canada’s largest community-based teaching hospitals, serving the growing and diverse populations of Mississauga, West Toronto, and surrounding communities. The 2J Cardiovascular Unit is a 36-bed unit focused on post-operation care for cardiac and vascular surgery patients, including progression pathways and support education for discharge. This role involves working as a member of an interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care, being responsible and accountable for decisions and actions in the provision and management of nursing care for cardiac patients, and serving as a practitioner, consultant, and educator for cardiac patient groups and health team members. The nurse is responsible and accountable for providing nursing care in accordance with the standards of nursing practice and THP Best Practices Protocols.

Requirements

  • Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or currently meet the eligibility criteria to register in good standing in the Temporary Class or General Class with the CNO
  • Cardiovascular Surgery experience is required
  • Successfully completed Coronary Care 1 course or committed to completing the course within the next six months
  • Successful completion of a Cardiac/ECG rhythm interpretation course
  • Patient physical assessment course preferred
  • Highly effective decision making, problem solving and organizational skills combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Experience with patient centered and partnership care models
  • Reliable and flexible individual who is willing to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team environment
  • Positive attendance and work record essential

Nice To Haves

  • Cardiovascular Surgery experience would be an asset
  • Patient physical assessment course preferred
