About The Position

Sentara Leigh in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Registered Nurse to work in the Cardiac Cath Lab. This position offers up to a $15,000 Sign-On Bonus for qualified candidates. The hours are four ten-hour shifts per week, from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, and will require on-call duties. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. Professional performance standards encompass ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards for specific clinical areas. The Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse will float, monitor, scrub, and have the opportunity to work with a variety of procedures including diagnostic caths, interventions, CTOs, Afib Watchman device, Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), TAVR Heart Valve Replacement, Mitra clips, Left/Right heart caths, biopsies, cardioversions, Transesophageal echo, loop recorder implants, etc.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Virginia RN License or Virginia or Compact/Multi-State Eligible.
  • BLS within 90 days of hire.
  • Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire.
  • Registered Nurse with Critical Care, PCU, ER, Cardiac, Stepdown or Recovery Room experience will be considered.

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Utilize standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation.
  • Adhere to standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
  • Possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
  • Float, monitor, and scrub in the Cardiac Cath Lab.
  • Work with procedures such as diagnostic caths, interventions, CTOs, Afib Watchman device, Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), TAVR Heart Valve Replacement, Mitra clips, Left/Right heart caths, biopsies, cardioversions, Transesophageal echo, and loop recorder implants.
  • Take call as required.
