About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN), within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, provides care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. The Staff RN is accountable for delivering patient care using the Nursing Process and following Mount Carmel Health System standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines. This role is in Orthopedics at Mount Carmel East.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
• Current BLS/CPR certification.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage patient care, including delegating to and supervising other members of the patient care team.
• Basic computer skills.

• Prior experience using an EMR for charting.

Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate care for an assigned group of patients using evidence-based practice.
• Assist providers with patient assessments, examinations, and treatments; perform basic medical procedures under provider supervision, including setting up procedures.
• Administer medications under provider direction and according to organizational standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Assist in emergency situations under provider direction.
• Educate patients and family members about procedures, diagnoses, and disease processes.
• Document relevant patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and completely in accordance with documentation standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Take responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed caregivers, as appropriate.
