About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) at Baylor Scott & White Continuing Care Hospital (CCH) will provide high-acuity, long-term care within a specialized hospital unit that blends ICU-level care with Med-Surg complexity. This role focuses on building meaningful relationships with patients who have complex medical needs, including ventilator weaning, pulmonary and cardiopulmonary diseases, complex wound care, neuromuscular disorders, gastrointestinal diseases, postoperative complications, kidney disease (including dialysis), and post-trauma recovery. The average patient length of stay is 25 days, and the unit has 25 beds. CCH fosters a supportive, family-like environment with interdisciplinary teams dedicated to patient well-being and professional growth.

Requirements

Active RN license (Texas or compact state)
Graduated from an Accredited Program in nursing.
BLS certification or obtain within 30 days of starting.
Passion for caring for medically complex patients.
Desire to grow clinically in a collaborative, close-knit environment.
A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area.
Understanding of hospital procedures and rules.
Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects.
Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.
Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.
Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

ICU, LTAC, or acute care experience preferred

Responsibilities

Oversee patient care using a professional practice model.
Conduct patient assessments, recognize health issues, and create care plans.
Assess patient responses to care and adjust plans to reach desired outcomes.
Secure patient travel.
