About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Registered Nurse for the NICU Complex Infant Lung and Airway Disease Unit. This is a specialized, 15-bed, technology-dependent unit providing family-centered care to infants under two years of age with chronic airway and respiratory support needs. The role involves caring for infants with complex diagnoses such as Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD) and Pulmonary Hypertension, managing advanced respiratory support, administering IV drips, and providing patient education. The unit is part of Vanderbilt's NICU, founded in 1961, which is organized into specialized pods for focused care.

Requirements

  • LIC-Registered Nurse - Licensure-Others
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • Graduate of an approved discipline specific program
  • Strong critical thinking and teamwork skills
  • Passion for delivering family-centered care

Nice To Haves

  • NICU experience preferred
  • Candidates without NICU experience are encouraged to apply — extensive training provided

Responsibilities

  • Care for infants with complex diagnoses, including Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD) and Pulmonary Hypertension.
  • Manage advanced respiratory support and technology-dependent patients.
  • Safely administer and monitor multiple IV drips.
  • Deliver compassionate, family-centered care and education.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team.
  • Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
  • Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
  • Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
