The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families for whom the nurse is responsible. The Registered Nurse is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed nurse and is accountable to patients for the quality of care delivered. The registered nurse provides transformational leadership in a professional practice setting by striving to create and participate in the future of healthcare. This role involves being a team player who contributes to building the team by helping others succeed through role modeling and mentoring. The nurse will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to evaluate clinical care or health services and promote patient safety initiatives. They will participate in department-specific quality initiatives and utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement a patient plan of care. The role also involves analyzing the health status of individuals and families, assessing patient reports/records of condition changes, and intervening appropriately. The nurse will accept assignments in areas other than their primary unit and demonstrate a commitment to continuous lifelong learning and professional development. They will promote advancement of the profession through participation in professional organizations and seek learning activities using current research findings. The nurse will participate in systematic peer review and obtain informal feedback regarding their own practice. They will meet time and attendance guidelines and place the patient at the center of everything they do by continuously evaluating and assessing patient and family satisfaction and performing as an advocate. The nurse will participate in department-specific patient satisfaction initiatives, promote compassionate communication that is patient and family-centered, assess for and attempt to resolve patient/family concerns, and utilize effective time management skills.
