About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers patient-centered nursing care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care in collaboration with the healthcare team. This role ensures the safety, quality, and continuity of care for patients across diverse clinical settings, supporting optimal patient outcomes and compliance with regulatory standards. Performs other duties as assigned. All job responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health's mission, vision, values, and B Safe program.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
  • Clinical experience during nursing program accepted.
  • Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Proficiency in patient assessment, care planning, and clinical documentation
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patient assignments
  • Ability to collaborate within interdisciplinary care teams
  • Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and infection control standards
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and regulatory requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • One year of clinical nursing experience in an acute care or relevant specialty setting.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or specialty certification applicable to clinical area

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients’ physical, psychosocial, and educational needs through interviews, examinations, and review of medical history.
  • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely, monitoring for therapeutic and adverse effects in accordance with provider orders and protocols.
  • Document all aspects of patient care accurately and promptly in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Educate patients and families on health conditions, treatment plans, medication regimens, and preventive care strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient responses to interventions, adjusting care plans as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Advocate for patient needs, preferences, and rights, ensuring culturally competent and ethical care.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and infection control initiatives as assigned.
  • Respond to emergencies and perform life-saving interventions within scope of practice and training.
