RN, Registered Nurse/ Critical Care Unit (CCU)

Oklahoma Heart Hospital•Oklahoma City, OK

About The Position

Oklahoma Heart Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for its Critical Care Unit (CCU). The nurse monitors the overall hemodynamic status of critically ill patients and performs comprehensive head-to-toe assessments, including assessment of body systems, rhythms, invasive lines, tubes, and drains. Nurses administer, titrate, and monitor critical medications, often caring for post-surgical patients who require intensive monitoring. They communicate concerning status changes and clinical details to physicians and surgeons when further intervention may be needed. CCU and Interventional Unit (IU) nurses operate and receive training on advanced life-saving equipment, including ventilators, intra-aortic balloon pumps, assistive heart pumps, continuous dialysis machines, hypothermia induction and maintenance devices, and defibrillators. Nurses must keep BLS and ACLS certifications current. The CCU uses a pod layout, with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 in Critical Care and 1:3 in the Interventional Unit. The layout and low, fixed ratios support attentive, safe, patient-focused care and allow nurses to spend time with patients and their families. Patient rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and arranged around nursing stations to streamline care. New graduates and experienced Registered Nurses are welcome.
