About The Position

Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center is seeking a Part Time Registered Nurse for their Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit (3 South). This unit provides care for patients with various cardiac conditions, including heart failure, rhythm disturbances, post-interventions, myocardial infarctions, and pre/post catheterization. It also cares for acute stroke patients. The unit operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, assisted by Patient Care Techs (1:8 ratio). This unit cares for patients with higher acuity than a typical medical-surgical unit and is transitioning to a Cardiac PCU step-down unit with a 1:4 ratio by year's end, offering an exciting opportunity for growth in a dynamic, high-acuity setting. Sentara Williamsburg Medical Center is a certified stroke center and holds Magnet designation for excellence in patient care, fostering a collaborative environment for nurses to develop expertise in cardiac care. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. Professional performance standards include ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN must possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards for specific clinical areas.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma from an accredited Registered Nursing Program
  • BLS within 90 days of hire
  • ACLS within 1 year of hire
  • NIH within 1 year of hire

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or MSN preferred
  • Acute care nursing experience preferred
  • Background in Stroke or Telemetry preferred
