About The Position

Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for the 3 South- Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit. This is a Full Time, position in Williamsburg, VA. The Acute Cardiac/Stroke & IMCU Unit, 3 South, provides care for patients with various cardiac conditions including heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, post-coronary interventions, post-ablation, and myocardial infarctions. The unit also cares for patients undergoing pre/post catheterization and acute stroke patients. This 24-bed unit operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, with assistance from Patient Care Techs (1:8 ratio on average). The patient acuity is higher than a typical medical-surgical unit. The unit is preparing to transition to a Cardiac PCU step-down with a 1:4 ratio before the end of the year, offering nurses an opportunity for growth in a dynamic, high-acuity setting. Sentara Williamsburg Medical Center is recognized as a certified stroke center and holds Magnet designation for excellence in patient care, fostering a collaborative environment for nurses to develop their expertise in cardiac care.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma from an accredited Registered Nursing Program
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License
  • BLS within 90 days of hire
  • Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire
  • NIH within 1 year of hire

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or MSN preferred
  • Acute care nursing experience preferred
  • Background in Stroke or Telemetry preferred

Responsibilities
