Registered Nurse - Medical Pulmonary Unit - Days
About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides nursing care on the Medical Pulmonary Unit at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois. This full-time position is scheduled for 36 hours per week, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with every other weekend required. No travel is required. The nurse assesses patients and collects health data with input from patients, families, and other health care providers; coordinates safe, timely, and appropriate plans of care; communicates effectively with customers; and tailors teaching to the learning needs of each patient and family. The role also participates in quality improvement and maintains knowledge of current nursing standards, laws, and regulations.
Requirements
- Successful completion of an associate's degree or BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Illinois.
- Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients and collect health data involving patients, families, and other health care providers.
- Coordinate patient plans of care to ensure interventions are consistent, safe, timely, and appropriate.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with customers in person, by phone, and in writing.
- Individualize patient and family teaching based on a thorough assessment of their learning needs.
- Participate in evaluating the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice through quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain professional knowledge of current nursing practice standards, laws, and regulations.
