Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Oncology
About The Position
Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for Cornell 2, a Medical Oncology unit. This is a full-time Night Shift position. Cornell 2 specializes in Neuro Oncology, urology, vascular, and chest tube care, providing a dynamic environment for experienced nursing professionals and new graduates. The unit has a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5/1:6. They care for a diverse patient population, including those with CHF, COPD, oncology patients with neutropenia or new diagnoses, and amputations. The unit operates on 12-hour shifts with weekend rotations and offers comprehensive orientation and ongoing professional development. The team is led by a clinical manager who is a recipient of the 2025 Clinical President's Award. Sentara Martha Jefferson has a low RN Turnover rate and high patient satisfaction scores.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
- Registered nursing License (Required)
- Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
- BLS required within 90 days of hire
- None required (experience)
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
- Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
- 1 year of acute care (preferred)
- Previous healthcare experience (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
- Implement the standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation.
- Adhere to the standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
- Utilize clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
