The Registered Nurse (RN) provides patient care through face-to-face visits and telehealth nursing. Visits may include reviewing health issues, medications, immunizations, and patient education. Telehealth work includes telephone-based visit planning, arranging laboratory tests and consultations under physician direction, and assessing symptom-related concerns. The RN coordinates nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care. Working within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model and the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, the RN plans, implements, evaluates, and communicates all phases of care for assigned patients. The RN collaborates daily with physicians, clinical assistants, appointment coordinators, and medical secretaries, and provides leadership through precepting, other leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates care based on staff skill and experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and available resources. The role requires strong communication, mentoring, and teaching skills. The RN may participate in committees or projects. A subset of employees may be required to drive a personal vehicle as part of the role. The position is eligible for TN sponsorship; successful sponsorship requires state licensure and completion of VisaScreen or an equivalent certification.
