About The Position

Provides direct patient care based on the knowledge of ANA Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, Butler Hospital policies and procedures, and the RI Nurse Practice Act. The position is in the Inpatient Assessment Center (IAC), identified as the Emergency Department. It is a part-time day position scheduled for 20 hours per 40-hour period and includes every other weekend.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Rhode Island nursing license.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in treatment planning to coordinate management of medical and nursing care and discharge planning for patients.
• Coordinates psychiatric and/or medical emergencies to ensure the person in crisis receives appropriate care and other patients remain safe.
• Participates as an active team member by assisting other staff and accepting additional assignments to complete essential patient care and unit responsibilities.
• Administers medications with knowledge of their action, mode of administration, side effects, and contraindications.
• Assumes the role of Charge Nurse for the shift.
