About The Position

Serenity for Life is a new women's residential mental health & rehabilitation program. It is a voluntary, 12-bed, luxury facility nestled in the mountains of Georgetown, Colorado. The number of beds, and ability to have extended stay offers staff the capability to work closely with the residents and to make a difference in their lives, the lives of their loved ones, and the communities in which they reside. We utilize evidence-based practices and provide trauma-informed care. The PRN Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing services to clients receiving substance use disorders, and mental health challenges in a residential treatment setting. The RN is responsible for assessing and monitoring clients' medical and mental health needs, administering medications, and education of prescribed medications. Collaborating with therapists and other healthcare professionals is essential to ensure effective treatment and support for clients' recovery. This position works on an as-needed basis to provide coverage for staffing shortages, employee absences, increased census, admissions, discharges, and other operational needs. The RN serves as an integral member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and promotes a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-oriented environment for clients.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of nursing principles, medication administration, and behavioral health treatment practices.
  • Ability to assess and respond appropriately to psychiatric, substance use, and medical concerns.
  • Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Skilled in the use of Google Workspace, and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and 42 CFR Part 2 requirements
  • Current, unrestricted Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Current BLS Certification or obtain prior to orientation

Responsibilities

  • Conduct nursing assessment and ongoing evaluations of clients' mental and physical health status.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the physician, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, and therapist.
  • Monitor the client's condition and progress, and inform the care team of status or changes.
  • Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring accuracy and safety.
  • Monitor client's response to medications and report any adverse effects.
  • Educate clients and families on medication regimens.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, such as heart rate, blood pressure, and temperature.
  • Operate and monitor medical equipment.
  • Educate clients and families on their mental & health conditions and management strategies.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients and their families.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • May be asked to conduct nurse-led group events/trainings.
  • Work closely with therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to design and adjust treatment plans, ensuring a holistic approach to client care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of client assessments, care plans, interventions, and progress notes to ensure continuity of care and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Guide and direct the activities of the Behavioral Health Technicians.
  • May be responsible for managing medical equipment and supplies.
  • May assist with diagnostic tests and procedures.
  • May be involved in client advocacy and discharge planning.
