Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Unit- Nights
About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to a variety of medical-surgical patients at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The role includes assessing patients and collecting health data, coordinating individualized care plans, communicating effectively with patients and other customers, and providing patient and family education. The nurse also participates in quality improvement initiatives and maintains knowledge of current nursing standards, laws, and regulations. This is a full-time position scheduled for 36 hours per week, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., including every other weekend. Travel is not required.
Requirements
- Successful completion of an Associate's degree or BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Illinois.
- Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities
- Assess patients and collect health data involving patients, families, and other health care providers.
- Provide care for a variety of medical-surgical patients.
- Coordinate patient plans of care to ensure interventions are consistent, safe, timely, and appropriate.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with customers in person, by phone, and in writing.
- Individualize patient and family teaching based on assessment of their learning needs.
- Participate in evaluating the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice through quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain professional knowledge of current nursing practice standards, laws, and regulations.
