Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Unit- Nights
About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to a variety of medical-surgical patients at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois. This is a full-time, 36-hour-per-week night position, with hours from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. and work every other weekend. No travel is required. The nurse assesses patients and collects health data in collaboration with patients, families, and other healthcare providers. The role coordinates individualized plans of care, communicates effectively with customers, provides patient- and family-focused teaching, participates in quality improvement, and maintains knowledge of current nursing standards, laws, and regulations.
Requirements
- Successful completion of an Associate's degree or BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Illinois.
- Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities
- Assess patients and collect health data involving patients, families, and other healthcare providers.
- Provide care to a variety of medical-surgical patients.
- Coordinate patient plans of care to ensure interventions are consistent, safe, timely, and appropriate.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with customers in person, by phone, and in writing.
- Individualize patient and family teaching based on assessment of their learning needs.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
- Maintain professional knowledge of current nursing practice standards, laws, and regulations.
