About The Position

The perioperative nurse provides surgical patient care by assessing, planning, and implementing nursing care before, during, and after surgery. The role includes assessing patients, creating and maintaining a sterile and safe surgical environment, providing pre- and post-operative education, monitoring patients’ physical and emotional well-being, and coordinating care throughout the surgical care continuum. The nurse promotes teamwork with surgery personnel, surgeons, anesthesia department personnel, and staff from other departments. Patients may include neonates/infants, children, adolescents, adults, and elderly individuals. This is a full-time evening-shift position in the Operating Room at CoxHealth South in Springfield, Missouri. The schedule is 40 hours per week, 10:40 AM–9:10 PM.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Active RN license in the state of Missouri.
BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Effective leadership abilities.
Valuable time management skills.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Flexibility and ability to work in a multitasking environment.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
Previous nursing experience.

Responsibilities
