About The Position

The Adult Medical Unit (AMU) at Bronson Methodist Hospital is looking for compassionate Registered Nurses to join their team. This 33-bed unit cares for stable medical patients, with an emphasis on geriatric patients, and also serves a small subset of gynecological surgical patients. The AMU is a good fit for nurses who enjoy building strong patient relationships, developing solid medical-surgical nursing skills, and working as part of a supportive team. It offers a collaborative environment focused on high-quality patient care, suitable for both new graduates and experienced RNs. The role involves managing patient care delivery throughout their stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge using the nursing process, coordinating care with other professionals, delegating tasks, providing direct patient care, and documenting patient status and needs.

Requirements

Associate's degree in Nursing required
Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing for the state of Michigan
BLS certification required by completion of core orientation
Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from various computer systems and equipment in order to set an appropriate plan of action
Must be able to constantly communicate both verbally, in writing and electronically

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred, must obtain within 8 years of hire
Critical care or ALS as well as other certifications may be required for some RNs, unit specific

Responsibilities

Manages the care delivery for patients in the organization throughout the length of stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge by utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, diagnosing, implementation and evaluation.
Coordinates the care provided by other professionals.
Delegates selected acts, tasks or functions that fall within the scope of professional nursing practice and the abilities of patient care assistants and universal service assistants.
Provides selected aspects of physical care within the scope of professional nursing practice as appropriate given the patient's level of acuity and complexity of care required.
Documents and communicates during each tour of duty the patient's response to care provided, consumption of resources and anticipated needs.
Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patients’ health or the situation.
Assesses the patient’s physical and developmental needs.
Analyzes assessment data to identify appropriate patient needs.
Documents nursing history and age appropriate physical/emotional needs/strengths for assigned patients.
Reviews vital signs to assess condition of patient and detect deviations from normal.
Analyzes the assessment data to determine patient problems or issues.
Uses the assessment data to identify patient problems.
Confirms problems with patient and family when appropriate.
Documents the expected outcomes and plan of care related to the problems through use of the clinical pathway and outcome teaching record.
Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient.
Utilizes the patient/family input when defining outcomes.
Incorporates the patient values, ethical and cultural considerations.
Coordinates discharge planning for outcomes not achieved utilizing the continuum of care available.
