About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in the MedSurg department, 3 South, at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham. The nurse follows the healthcare organization's established policies, procedures, and protocols; implements and monitors patient care plans; monitors, records, and communicates patient conditions; and coordinates care across disciplines. The role also includes carrying out physician and nursing orders and coordinating patients' discharge-planning needs with the healthcare team. The schedule is described as Weekend Options.
Requirements
- BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
- Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing and professional licensure at the time of hire.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge-planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
