About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with the healthcare organization’s established policies, procedures, and protocols. The position is in MedSurg, 3 South, at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham, with a weekend-options schedule. The RN implements and monitors patient care plans, monitors and communicates patient conditions, coordinates care across disciplines, carries out physician and nursing orders, and coordinates discharge planning with the healthcare team.
Requirements
- BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is accepted.
- Currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing and professional licensure at the time of hire.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care according to established organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
