About The Position

The Registered Nurse works on a specialized six-bed inpatient unit serving adults with co-occurring developmental and psychiatric disorders. The unit provides psychiatric evaluation, stabilization, and treatment using a behavioral approach to care. The nurse provides professional psychiatric nursing services in accordance with team treatment plans, administers prescribed medical treatment, supports patients and families, and helps direct assigned paraprofessional staff. The position is PRN, with day shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. as needed, and is performed in person.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland or a compact state at the time of appointment, maintained continuously while in the position.
• Passion for working with adults on the Autism Spectrum.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, administer, and evaluate patient care in accordance with team treatment plans.
• Administer medical treatment as prescribed by a physician.
• Teach patients and provide psychosocial support to patients and their families.
• Provide day-to-day clinical direction to assigned Mental Health Workers or other paraprofessional staff.
• Document and report patient progress to the treatment team.
