About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position is for a full-time, third shift role in the PCU (Progressive Care Unit) at BHCOR-Cor. The PCU is a 20-bed unit equipped for 24-hour central telemetry monitoring. It serves patients aged 16 to geriatric who have moderate to potentially severe physiological instability, requiring technical support but not necessarily artificial life support. This role demands substantial specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills derived from psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences, applied through the nursing process. The RN will utilize high-level assessment skills to design and ensure multidisciplinary patient care that addresses holistic needs, adhering to established practice guidelines and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.
  • Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
  • ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.
  • Basic Life Support Required.
  • New employees requiring CPR-Basic Life Support (BLS)-American Heart Association should receive (CPR) training within the first week of orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Completes and documents patient assessments, care plans, and changes in condition.
  • Updates care plans each shift with measurable goals and evaluates patient response to interventions.
  • Develops patient/family education and discharge plans.
  • Provides care according to policies, procedures, and physician orders.
  • Performs procedures, responds to emergencies, and promotes patient safety.
  • Communicates effectively using SBAR/ARCC and ensures accurate documentation.
  • Assists staff, monitors compliance, and facilitates patient flow.
  • Uses critical thinking to identify and address patient care needs promptly.
  • Demonstrates leadership, teamwork, delegation, and workload prioritization.
  • Acts as a role model, supports staff orientation, and encourages professional growth.
  • Maintains licensure, completes required training, and complies with all regulations and reporting requirements.
