The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Care Center practices independently in the same or a similar clinical setting and demonstrates awareness of relevant aspects of each situation. The nurse provides routine and complex care, works toward long-range goals and plans, develops the ability to manage clinical contingencies, and makes appropriate assignments and delegations to help manage clinical situations. Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, the nurse uses the nursing process—including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation—to care for assigned patients. The role addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families according to the nurse’s level of practice. The nurse administers medications and treatments under appropriate protocols, monitors for side effects and effectiveness, documents patient histories, symptoms, medications, and care, and assesses learning needs while providing education and identifying issues and resources. The nurse is expected to meet applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies and complete required orientation, onboarding, competency validation, and annual competency verification. The work schedule is 7 AM to 7 PM.
