Job Summary The Registered Professional Nurse in CARS is responsible for the provision of direct patient care to a designated group of patients in a fast-paced, multi-faceted department. These responsibilities include observation, data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's physical, psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing from an Accredited School of Nursing
  • BLS Certification
  • Successful completion of CPI training within 3 months of hire.
  • Successful completion of medication competency exam.

Responsibilities

  • Helps to maintain 24-hour accountability for quality of care of clients.
  • Completes physical and mental health assessments (vital signs, risk assessments, withdrawal assessment [COWS]) as indicated by Part 820 regulations.
  • Administers and monitors treatment regimens.
  • Administers prescribed medications.
  • Observes and reports behavioral changes.
  • Maintains control of drugs and medications.
  • Triage emergent client medical issues and coordinate care with Nursing Staff, PA, NP, Medical Director, and outside providers.
  • Records all care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and forms.
  • Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.
  • Directs care provided by Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs).
  • Respects cultural and religious practices of patients.
  • Ensures OASAS/Medicaid regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborates with Director of Nursing, Direct Care Staff, Counselors, Clinical Directors, other Department Managers, and Compliance Manager in Quality Assessment, Assurance, and Performance Improvement Activities.
