About The Position

Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join their Inpatient units. This progressive and dedicated healthcare team strives to change the lives of patients and provide exceptional care. The RN position requires a high level of attention to detail and situational awareness, paramount to the success of all patient outcomes. The role operates within a fast-paced environment that demands critical thinking, teamwork, and excellent communication between staff and patients. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Current California RN License
  • Current CPR certification (or obtain prior to start date)
  • Completion of 'Handle-With-Care' Physical Restraint Technique Training during orientation
  • Previous experience in a mental healthcare hospital environment focusing on human behavior, psychiatry, psychology, or other mental healthcare situations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent care to patients.
  • Demonstrate sound leadership skills in organizing activities and schedules for medical and/or non-medical tasks on the unit.
  • Utilize high-quality clinical and interpersonal skills to be an exemplary role model.
  • Apply basic knowledge of treatment procedures and interventions common to acute psychotic and non-violent crisis intervention practice.
  • Apply basic knowledge of abnormal psychology as typically found in the IST population to patient care.
  • Utilize medical terminology in psychiatric care.
  • Demonstrate thorough familiarity with psychiatric medications and their use.
  • Possess basic teaching and training skills.
  • Exhibit problem-solving abilities.
  • Manage tasks with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Employ crisis intervention skills.
  • Communicate effectively in written and oral English.
  • Facilitate and/or co-facilitate process-oriented and didactic groups.
