About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Ambulatory Surgery Unit Operating Room (ASU OR) at St. Mary's Hospital is responsible for delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process. This includes data collection, assessment, identifying and prioritizing patient problems/needs, and evaluating the process and outcome of nursing care. The RN also coordinates and directs patient teaching activities and collaborates with other health team members. In collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team, the RN conducts initial and ongoing patient assessments, analyzes data, creates a plan of care, implements treatments, and evaluates their effectiveness. They administer medications safely, adhering to state regulations and hospital policies, and serve as a point of contact for patient care coordination across departments. The RN also acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in quality improvement initiatives within the department.

Requirements

  • Valid nursing license from the state of practice (required)
  • Associate of Nursing, nursing (required)
  • Diploma in Nursing (required)
  • BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (preferred)

Responsibilities
