About The Position

This is a full-time Registered Nurse position for the Stepping Stones unit, with evening shifts. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered to external candidates. The role involves reporting patient observations, changes, and reactions to the appropriate personnel, and accurately documenting these findings. The nurse will also plan, implement, and document health teaching for patients and their significant others. Key responsibilities include assessing patient conditions and nursing needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans with necessary revisions, and maintaining nursing department standards.

Requirements

Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of an accredited School of Nursing.
Care of the patient requiring detoxification.
Care of the substance abuse patient.
The 12 Step Recovery Program.
Use of individual and group therapy techniques/dynamics.
Support groups available for patients and/or significant others.
Current State Nursing License.

Nice To Haves

Specialty units may have additional requirements according to their policy.
One year of experience in Medical Surgical Nursing.
Prior experience in treatment of substance abuse and 12 Step Recovery Program preferred.
The desire to work towards or possess Certification in Chemical Dependency Nursing is encouraged.

Responsibilities

Reports pertinent observations, changes, and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (physician, manager, charge nurse, supervisor, etc.).
Records these observations, changes and reactions accurately, concisely and legibly.
Plans, implements and documents health teaching with patient and/or significant other.
Assesses the patient’s condition and nursing needs.
Develops and implements individual plan of care with revisions as patient’s condition and needs change.
Maintains the standards of nursing care within the guidelines of the nursing department.
