About The Position

Under the direction of the Director, Department Manager, and supervisor, the Registered Nurse assesses, performs, documents, and evaluates professional independent nursing practice and performs related duties. The role supports patients before surgery or planned procedures and provides post-procedure monitoring and discharge education in the perioperative area, including PACU, SDS, and SDEX.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Two years of progressive care nursing experience in an acute hospital setting.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse with the State of Minnesota.
• BLS certification upon hire.
• ACLS and PALS certifications required within six months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• ICU experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Confirm the scheduled date and time of surgery with the patient or designated caregiver.
• Admit patients to the perioperative area, assess them, and prepare them for surgery or a planned procedure.
• Receive and monitor patients’ post-procedure conditions according to PACU, SDS, and SDEX orders.
• Collaborate with surgeons and the anesthesia team to support safe, timely emergence from anesthesia.
• Communicate post-operative discharge instructions effectively to patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
