Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Telemetry
About The Position
Sentara Albemarle Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Medical Telemetry Unit. This unit is comprised of 24 beds, with 17 beds for medical telemetry patients and 7 beds for stroke/neuro patients. The unit cares for adults with conditions such as stroke rule out, TIA, CVA, syncope, COPD, CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, and other acute problems requiring telemetry monitoring. A 6-month Nurse Residency program is available for new graduate RNs with less than one year of experience, offering general nursing orientation, a specialty clinical track, residency professional development sessions, and mentoring with a unit-based preceptor. This program is automatically available to all new graduates without a separate application.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
- Registered nursing License (required)
- Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
- BLS required within 90 days of hire
- None required experience
- Telemetry knowledge (preferred but will be taught if unknown)
- NIHSS required (or will be taught)
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (preferred)
- ACLS (preferred)
- 1 year of acute care experience (preferred)
- Previous healthcare experience (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Care for adult patients with stroke rule out, TIA, CVA, syncope, COPD, CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, and other acute problems needing telemetry monitoring.
- Participate in the Nurse Residency program if applicable (new graduates with less than one year experience).
- Engage in general nursing orientation, specialty clinical track, professional development sessions, and mentoring/preceptor education as part of the residency program.
