About The Position

This position is responsible for delivering appropriate and timely nursing care within an urgent care setting for patients of all ages. The RN will work collaboratively within a nursing team, which includes RNs, LPNs, and Clinical Assistants, to promote high-quality, evidence-based, and cost-effective healthcare outcomes.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska or another U.S. state.
• Minimum of two years of general nursing experience with at least one year in an ambulatory or urgent care setting.
• Understanding of customer service principles and infection control practices.
• Proficient in the nursing process and critical thinking.
• Ability to prioritize patient needs and anticipate care requirements.
• Proficient in the usage of various medical equipment.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.

Nice To Haves

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
• Clinical Competency assessment required within three months of hire.
• High-Risk Competency assessment required within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial triage and assessments of patients seeking urgent care services.
• Provide telephone assessments and advice regarding self-care and appropriate care options.
• Document patient evaluations, nursing interventions, and educational efforts accurately.
• Administer medications and therapeutic measures as directed by providers.
• Initiate and manage IV access, including adding secondary IV therapies as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring adequate supplies and equipment.
• Coordinate patient referrals and track their progress to ensure continuity of care.
• Participate in team improvement efforts and ongoing professional development.
• Respond to emergency situations and provide high-quality patient care at all times.
