Registered Nurse (RN) PACU ICAR
About The Position
Inova is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for its Interventional Cardiovascular (Pre-Op) Admission & Recovery (ICAR) unit at the Inova Schar Heart & Vascular Center on the Fairfax Medical Campus. The role serves adult and pediatric patients in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting focused on multidisciplinary collaboration. The schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts, with listed shift options of 6 a.m.–6 p.m., 7 a.m.–7 p.m., or 9 a.m.–9 p.m., and minimal holiday and on-call requirements. The position offers opportunities for growth and involvement in unit and hospital initiatives. The nurse provides pre-procedure and post-procedure care for outpatient and inpatient populations undergoing electrophysiology, cardiac catheterization, structural heart, and interventional radiology procedures.
Requirements
- At least one year of PACU or critical care nursing experience in ICU or ED.
- BSN from an accredited school of nursing; nurses with an associate degree in nursing must complete a BSN within five years of their start date.
- RN license to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- BLS healthcare provider certification from the American Heart Association, required at start.

Responsibilities
- Provide pre-procedure and post-procedure care to outpatient and inpatient populations.
- Care for patients undergoing electrophysiology procedures, including pacemaker and ICD placements, leadless pacemaker procedures, and VT, SVT, A-fib, and A-flutter ablations.
- Care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization procedures, including left and right heart catheterizations, heart biopsies, ASD/PFO closures, carotid stents, and structural heart procedures.
- Care for patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures, including angiograms, chemoembolization, IVC filter procedures, Mediport procedures, thrombolysis, venograms, G/J tube placements, and nephrostomy and biliary tube procedures.
