About The Position

As an on-call registered nurse at Heritage Christian, you will use critical-thinking skills to support the health and well-being of people with disabilities. You will provide nursing direction and support to direct support staff regarding individuals’ acute and chronic medical concerns during evening and overnight hours and on weekends. The listed pay range is $33–$35 per hour. The finalist’s salary will be determined based on factors including departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.

Requirements

• New York State Department of Education licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• Ability and temperament to work effectively with people with intellectual and physical disabilities.
• Flexibility with scheduling and ability to work evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Long-term care experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain on-call reference materials and understand how to use them to take calls and triage individuals for timely further medical assessment and care.
• Complete required documentation.
• Follow the agency’s written on-call protocols when answering calls.
• Answer calls promptly and return calls within 30 minutes.
• Make appropriate contacts when calls require triage to an After Hours Clinic or emergency department, and when questions or concerns arise.
• Complete other duties as designated by the Nursing Management Team.
