Registered Nurse (RN) Endoscopy PRN
About The Position
Inova Mount Vernon is seeking a PRN (as-needed) Registered Nurse for the GE Lab, with availability at least once a week. The nurse must take two weekend and two weekday call shifts in each six-week schedule. The GI team works across two endoscopy units and cares for electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) patients three days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday), supporting patients through pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure recovery. PRN nurses rotate through all of these areas. The position is part of a fast-paced perioperative team focused on teamwork and patient safety. Mount Vernon is a community hospital with eight OR suites and services in robotics, general surgery, orthopedics, spine, plastics, ENT, urology, and gynecology. The OR operates 24/7, with an on-call team supporting off-shifts and holidays. Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is a 237-bed hospital situated on 26 acres.
Requirements
- One year of direct Operating Room experience as a Registered Nurse, or completion of an OR fellowship. For PACU nurses, one year of critical care or PACU RN experience is required.
- BSN from an accredited school of nursing; nurses with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing must complete a BSN within five years of the start date.
- RN license to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- ACLS and PALS through the American Heart Association, required before completion of orientation.
Nice To Haves
- At least two years of recent Endoscopy Nurse experience, including pre-, post-, and intra-procedure experience.
Responsibilities
- Rotate through pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure recovery areas.
- Care for endoscopy patients across two endoscopy units.
- Care for ECT patients on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
- Be available to work at least once a week.
- Take two weekend and two weekday call shifts in a six-week schedule.
